Brief Biography
I am a Burlington, NC native and am thrilled to be a part of the team at Elon's Counseling Services. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UNC Chapel Hill, then Master’s and PhD in Clinical Health Psychology from UNC Charlotte.
My clinical and research interests have focused on the developmental time of emerging adulthood and I enjoy working with a variety of clinical concerns, such as adjustment, generalized anxiety, depression, identity development, disordered eating, grief, social anxiety, and relationship issues, among others. I use a collaborative, strengths-based approach in session, as I believe each client is an expert on their own life and the relationship in therapy is central to change. I strive to understand each client through their unique intersection of identities and experiences and contextualizing this within the systems in which they interact. I use an integrative approach and draw heavily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Interpersonal Process approaches, though I also adapt to best meet each client’s needs and utilize CBT, DBT, and other approaches as needed. I value warmth, compassion, authenticity, diversity, humor, openness, and flexibility in the therapeutic relationship and seek to create an affirming space for each client. I look forward to continuing working with Elon’s students.
I am also passionate about group therapy and enjoy coordinating the workshops and therapy groups offered here at Elon. If you have ideas about future groups or workshops you would like to see offered, please send me an email!
