Brief Biography

Dr. Suzan Z. Wasik serves as Associate Professor and Accreditation Coordinator in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. She brings 30 years of experience as a clinician, educator, and consultant across academic, clinical, and organizational settings. Dr. Wasik earned her Ph.D. in Counseling and Counselor Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Board Certified TeleMental Health Provider, with clinical specialization in integrative and trauma-informed care. In her private practice, she collaborates with referring physicians to provide integrative counseling and consulting services for individuals pursuing ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. Her scholarly and professional work includes national presentations on contemporary issues in mental health counseling including the development of community and psychological safety in online learning environments as well as the emerging impact of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. Dr. Wasik has also been selected as a 2026 Faculty Fellow for the University Psychedelic Education Program (U-PEP) - a competitive national initiative that supports university faculty in advancing rigorous, evidence-based education in psychedelic science and therapeutic applications within higher education and into curricula across health-related disciplines including counseling, nursing, social work, medicine, psychology, and public health.
