Tommy Freeze

I graduated from ECPI College of Technology in 1997 and went straight to work in the Technology field doing a couple of contract positions in Raleigh and then a couple of local computer stores as a technician.

In 1998 I went to work at USLabel Artistic in Greensboro as an IS support associate.  That position turned into Network Administrator over time.  

In 2000 I left the company to enroll as a fulltime student at Alamance Community College to earn an Associates Degree in Information Systems with a concentration in Networking.  Shortly thereafter I was hired at MEDTOX Diagnostics in Burlington.  I consider this to be the start of my "Real Career".  After graduation I took a 2 year break from education and concentrated on gaining as much experience as possible.  I ended up being a one-man IT department.  If it plugged in and was technology it had my name on it.  My company offered tuition reimbursement and eventually I used the opportunity to enroll at Guilford College as a full-time night-school to finish my Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, graduating in 2007. 

In 2014 I was hired by Guilford County Schools as a Senior Network/Systems Analyst.  My team of four was responsible for approximately 550 physical and virtual servers, located at 126 schools and ten central office locations, as well as the management of Active Directory, Office 365, Azure, and the user account provisioning system.  Over time my primary focus shifted mainly to management of Office 365 and user account provisioning.  During the Covid-19 pandemic we re-deployed Microsoft Identity Management from scratch due to issues with the old implementation.  

I have made the change to Elon University to be closer to home and family.  I work with a great team of coworkers and I have been very impressed with the professionalism that Elon University practices.

I have a wife and a 12 year old daughter that mean the world to me.   My daughter plays soccer and my schedule before was so unpredictable that it was hard to ever see her play.  Now that I am back working in Alamance County I will have the opportunity to cheer her on from the sidelines.
