Jason Husser, director, Elon University Poll

Dr. Jason Husser has been director of the Elon University Poll since 2016. He is a professor of political science and public policy and researches and teaches about American government, public opinion, political behavior and survey methodology. Prior to becoming poll director, Husser served four years as assistant director.

Husser is one of North Carolina’s most prominent voices in media reports on politics, government, civic issues and elections, with regular appearances on the region’s broadcast media outlets and interviews with print and online news outlets. He is also frequently quoted by national news media, including the New York Times, Washington Post, Politico, the Associated Press and many other major media outlets.

At Elon, Husser has served as assistant provost for academic excellence and integrity, interim chair of the political science and public policy department, chair of Academic Council and Faculty Fellow for Civic Engagement. He has created meaningful learning experiences for more than 1,000 student employees while mentoring Lumen Scholars, Honors Fellows, Elon College Fellows, and undergraduate researchers inspired by his passion for the study of politics, polling and civic involvement.

A native of Louisiana, Husser has a doctorate and master’s degree in political science and government from Vanderbilt University and a bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University.
