The best preparation for law school is a high-quality
liberal arts education where you can develop outstanding
writing, communications and critical-thinking skills. As a
Prelaw student, you will take classes that will hone your
reading, analytical, persuasive and deductive reasoning
abilities.
Prelaw students explore the various types of law. They must
also complete and excel in an undergraduate plan of study
that will make them competitive in the law school
admissions process. The Elon Prelaw program includes a combination of instructional and advisory activities that are designed to facilitate admission into law school and success once there.
At Elon, you will have a Prelaw advisor who is available
from the start to guide and support you. You will also have
the direction of top-notch faculty, no matter what major you
choose.
You will get hands-on experience through participation in
the Elon Prelaw Society and activities such as joining
the mock trial team, volunteering as a mediator at local
resolution courts or becoming a Guardian Ad Litem, an
advocate for children in the court system. Many Elon Prelaw
students also use internships as another way to gain
firsthand experience and learn about the different types of
law. By the time you graduate, you will be fully prepared to apply to the law school of your choice. Recent Elon graduates have gained admission to the following law schools, among others: University of Pennsylvania, Duke University, Emory University, Wake Forest University, University of North Carolina, University of Tennessee, University of Maryland, Ohio State University, Tulane University, University of Connecticut, University of Alabama, Temple University, University of Richmond, University of Pittsburgh, Rutgers University, Syracuse University, University of Cincinnati.
