What is Women's/Gender Studies?
Specifically, the program offers an interdisciplinary collection of courses, which vary from year to year and remain some of the most popular courses on campus. Through experiences in and out of the classroom, the W/GS minor increases awareness of how gender intersects with ethnicity, nationality, race, socioeconomic class, religion, sexual orientation and age. Our students develop critical thinking skills when considering gender that will translate into a habit of analysis about the world they occupy. W/GS minors integrate knowledge across disciplines and seek to connect knowledge to the world around them. A minor in W/GS complements any major and contributes to students' personal growth. W/GS minors pursue careers and/or graduate education in areas such as English, History, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Business, Political Science and many other fields. An independent major in Women's/Gender Studies is also possible. |
