Digital Library for Alumni

Elon University alumni have access to the following selected online research databases:

These databases may be accessed off-campus by Elon alumni who are using them for personal, non-commercial use. Use of these resources for commercial gain is not permitted.

You will need an Elon University username and password to login to each resource:

  • Are you a 2010 or newer graduate? Use the username and password assigned to you when you were a student. Contact the Elon Help Desk by chat, phone 336.278.5200 or email helpdesk@elon.edu if you require assistance.
  • Did you graduate before 2010? Contact the Elon Help Desk by chat, phone 336.278.5200 or email helpdesk@elon.edu to set up a new username and password.

Sage includes scholarly journals covering the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Sciences, Technology, and Medicine, many of which are published on behalf of learned societies and institutions.
 

Project Muse includes scholarly journals covering the humanities and social sciences. Subjects include history, literature, creative writing, the visual and performing arts, ethnic studies, education, religion, gender studies, and many others. Search across all journals in the database, selected subsets of journal titles, or a single title.
 

RefWorks is an online research management, writing, and collaboration tool for researchers to gather, manage, store, and share information, as well as generate citations and bibliographies. Contact Belk Library at askalibrarian@elon.edu for instructions.

Free databases

There are numerous free databases on the Internet that can help you locate all types of information:

  • American Memory Project – written and spoken words, sound recordings, still and moving images, prints, maps, and sheet music that document the American experience
  • America’s Historical Documents – the records of the Federal Government
  • Digital Public Library of America - national digital library of books, images, historic records, and audiovisual materials
  • ERIC – education related materials
  • Google Scholar – search for scholarly articles
  • MedlinePlus – health information from the National Library of Medicine
  • NC Live – magazines, newspapers, journals, ebooks, audiobooks, and video available to Elon alumni who are North Carolina residents that obtain a free remote access password from your local NC public library
  • PubMed – medical and health related information
  • WorldCat – search for items in libraries near you


Building Access and Computers

  • Elon University alumni visitors to Belk Library are welcome to use most of our databases and ejournals when on a Belk Library computer.
  • Please ask a librarian if you have questions about which resources are available to visitors.
  • For guest computer access, please ask at the library information desk.
  • A wireless Internet connection is available by using the “Public” network. This network does not have access to Belk Library’s online databases and e-resources. For more information, visit the Elon Technology Wiki.
