Pre-K and Kindergarten

  • Khan Academy provides resources on a variety of topics for all ages. It is free for everyone! Provided by Madeleine Ker ’17, former pre-k and elementary school teacher.
  • Epic! has a wide variety of books that students can listen to or read on their own. “As a teacher I can see what books students have looked at and assign specific books to them. You can also see how long students have spent on each book which gives me a better idea if they just flipped through the pages really fast or actually read it. You would normally have to pay for access to this website but during the school closures it is free.” Provided by Lindsay Arnold ’15, kindergarten teacher, Lindley Park Elementary.
  • Parent’s Guide to Education and Activity Resources Provided by Andrew Houilihan ’01, superintendent of Union County Public Schools.

Elementary

  • Quizizz provides excellent practice quizzes to help elementary students gain content mastery in a variety of learning areas. Provided by Julia Finneyfrock ’15, academic coordinator, Cannon School.
  • Lalilo creates a baseline in phonics for students so they can start the material at any time and at their level. Provided by Lindsay Arnold ’15, kindergarten teacher, Lindley Park Elementary.
  • ReadWorks provides materials for a variety of reading comprehension instruction for all ages. It provides lessons for students and creative ways to improve and enhance their literacy. There are also teach toolkits to utilize with their own students. Provided by Katie Quick ’17, elementary school teacher, Hickory Grove Elementary. 
  • Newsela offers a wide range of materials on various topics to help students with enhancing their literacy comprehension. Newsela integrates other topics such as science with literacy to provide the best of both worlds in teaching students remotely. Provided by Katie Quick ’17, elementary school teacher, Hickory Grove Elementary.

Middle and High School

  • DeltaMath.com allows teachers to create an account and provide math content for your students. Provided by Julia Finneyfrock ’15, academic coordinator, Cannon School.
  • The Physics Classroom offers a range of basic physics lessons, interactive learning, session reviews, and teacher toolkits to enhance visual learning for students. Provided by Allie Boyd ’12, physics teacher, Apex Friendship High School.
  • The Physics Aviary offers labs, tests, and a variety of resources to test and improve a student’s knowledge in Physics. Provided by Allie Boyd ’12, physics teacher, Apex Friendship High School.
  • IXL.com keeps your student learning and engaged on a variety of topics. Provided by Cara Catalfumo Mitchell ’04, Eighth Grade Teacher, Alexander Graham Middle School.

  • The Reformed Broker, recommended by leading alumnus in the financial services field, is a blog that provides up-to-date market analysis to help you manage your short- and long-term personal finances. 
  • Molly Schriber-Cushing ‘11, Financial Advisor, Morgan Stanley, provides comprehensive financial planning.
  • Given the stock market turmoil right now, this advice from Credit Suisse will give you some understanding on how the markets behave and recover in times of crisis.
