2026-2027 Security Awareness Training

We all play an essential role in securing Elon University’s sensitive information. As the Elon community continues to expand its cyber reach to business partners and service providers, risks concerning unauthorized data access continue to grow. As a result, every Elon employee is required to take information security awareness training each academic year.

To ensure all eligible employees meet their awareness training requirement, we are offering the following opportunities during the 2026-2027 academic year that will satisfy your training requirement:

Instructor-led

Sessions are scheduled and announced monthly through the Office of Leadership and Professional Development (OLPD) and Teaching and Learning Technologies (TLT). Our 2026-2027 instructor-led session is titled “Top Cyber Threats/Risks and How We Can Protect Ourselves“.

On-demand

On-demand training allows you to complete your awareness training at a time when it is most convenient for you. You must first enroll in the course.  If you have already enrolled, log in to Canvas using your Elon credentials. To enroll for the first time, execute the following instructions:

  • Click the self-enrollment link: Self-Enrollment
  • Log in using your Elon credentials.
  • Click the Enroll in Course button to join the course
  • Canvas will display a confirmation message indicating that you have successfully enrolled in the course
  • The course will then appear in your Canvas Dashboard or Courses menu

Depending on your role within the University, you may also be required to complete the PCI or HIPAA training courses.

Customized Group Sessions

There are specialized group training sessions that are perfect for both security awareness training and team building. Attending one of these group sessions will satisfy your annual training requirement. These session include:

·   Digital Scavenger Hunt
·   CyberTrivia Contest
·   CyberEscape Room

If you would like to schedule a customized group training session for your division or department, please email your request to infosec@elon.edu. These sessions are a great way for your entire department or division to satisfy your annual security awareness training requirement, while building teamwork skills.
