Barrett Weed ’11 nominated for awards for role in 'Heathers: The Musical'

The music theatre alumna was nominated for a 2014 Drama Desk Award  alongside Sutton Foster, Idina Menzel, Kelli O’Hara, Jessie Mueller and others, as well as a 2014 Lucille Lortel Award.

Barrett Weed ’11[/caption]After originating the role of Veronica Sawyer in the Los Angeles premiere, Barrett Wilbert Weed ’11 stayed with the cast of “Heathers: The Musical” in its move to the Off-Broadway New World Stages. 

Since it opened March 31, 2014, “Heathers” has enjoyed four award nominations, two of which have been specific to Weed as a nominee for “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical.” Nominated for a Drama Desk Award alongside Sutton Foster, Idina Menzel, Kelli O’Hara, Jessie Mueller, and Margo Seibert, Weed was one of two of the “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical” nominees starring in an Off-Broadway musical. 

She was also nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award next to four other leading women in an Off-Broadway musical production. 

The Drama Desk Awards recognize significant achievement and excellence in New York theater productions from Off-Off-Broadway to Broadway, while the Lucille Lortel Awards specifically recognize New York Off-Broadway theatre.
