Elon will open the 2024 season on Friday, Aug. 30 at Duke. It will be the second consecutive year in which the Phoenix has played a non-Saturday game against an ACC opponent to open the season. Duke holds an 8-0-1 lead in the all-time series (Elon tied then-Trinity 0-0 in 1921) and the Blue Devils most recently posted a 52-13 win in 2014. The Blue Devils went 8-5 in 2023, including a 4-4 mark in ACC play, before Head Coach Mike Elko was hired away by Texas A&M. Former Miami Hurricanes Head Coach Manny Diaz takes over at Duke for 2024.

In week two, Elon heads to North Carolina Central for a second consecutive non-conference game against the Eagles. The Sept. 7 match-up will be the 14th meeting between the two schools and Elon holds a 9-4 edge in the series. Last year, N.C. Central earned a 34-23 win in a game in which both teams were ranked in the FCS Top 25. The Eagles went 9-3 on the season and earned a bid to the FCS playoffs, losing to Richmond in the first round.
