Lee Rainie interviewed by WXII about AI and human relationships

Director of Elon University's Imagining the Digital Future Center spoke with WXII about how people are treating artificial intelligence like humans.

Lee Rainie, director of Elon University’s Imagining the Digital Future Center, recently spoke with WXII about research surrounding artificial intelligence and relationships.

Rainie says the center is analyzing how people are now using AI tools like humans, including as therapists, friends or even dating partners.

“It’s a long-standing story, especially with digital technologies, that the first thing people do with it, no matter why it’s invented, is to start doing social things,” said Rainie.
