Do you have Mass on campus?

Yes! We celebrate Masses every Sunday during the academic year at Elon. Our usual Sunday schedule is 10:00 AM in the Numen Lumen Pavilion, located in the heart of campus, and 5:00 PM in the Elon Community Church, downtown next to the Barnes & Noble bookstore. We even celebrate Mass outside once a semester! There are also regular opportunities for daily Mass, reconciliation, and Adoration. You can always see the latest Mass schedule here.

Where is the closest Catholic church to Elon?

We are the closest Catholic church! With our regular schedule of Masses and campus programs, we have a strong community comprised of students, faculty, staff, and local community members who worship and participate with us often. We even have baptisms and Confirmation on Easter Sunday! While not officially a parish, we are an official ministry of the Diocese of Raleigh in North Carolina.

Do you have a priest on campus?

We are fortunate to have Father Peter Tremblay as our full-time, on-campus priest. He is a Franciscan friar, belonging to the OFM Conventuals. Fr. Peter loves working with the students at Elon and always has his door open to anyone wanting to chat, pray, or share a meal!

We also have a team of professional lay staff, who are all dedicated to serving the Elon community. All ministry staff are employees of the Catholic Diocese of Raleigh. Any member of our staff is open and available to students, faculty, and staff for mentorship and discipleship.

Is there a big Catholic community at Elon?

You might be surprised to know that Catholic students make up the largest single faith community at Elon! Over 20% of the approximately 6,400 undergrads at Elon identify as Catholic. We routinely see around 200 students each weekend for Mass, and many are regular participants in our other activities.

What kinds of activities do you offer?

In addition to Mass and worship opportunities, we have events and programs throughout the year including dinners, holiday gatherings, and more. We host small groups and speakers, leadership and internship opportunities, and we serve others in need both locally and on our spring break service trips.

CCM offers incredible off-campus retreats – one at the beginning of the fall semester at the North Carolina coast. This is an incredible opportunity to meet other Catholic students, discuss and learn about our faith together, and just enjoy some time at the beach and admire God’s creation. Students also have what is called the Awakening Retreat typically in November. This retreat is an amazing spiritual opportunity where students participate in small groups and grow together in their relationship with Christ.

Is there a Catholic center or house on campus?

CCM has its very own house on campus, which is located at 515 East College Ave, near the East residential neighborhood. The CCM House (the one with the blue door!) serves as a home away from home for many of our Catholic students. You will often find students here to studying or hanging out with friends on the evenings, weekends, or between classes. There are always free snacks available, as well as an espresso machine where students can make their own coffee, espresso, or latte drinks. Students can even grab a freeze pop or ice cream bar from the freezer in the kitchen!

On South Campus, in Holt Chapel, is our Eucharistic chapel which holds the real presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Access to the chapel is made available for any Catholic student wanting to pray.

Please know that if you need to find Fr. Peter or any of our staff, our offices are located in the Numen Lumen Pavilion in the center of campus. Let us know if you ever want a tour of any of our facilities.

How do I become part of Elon CCM?

CCM is always welcoming new students and we’re excited to meet you! Unlike some other student organizations on campus, CCM is always open membership. Whether you’re an undergrad or graduate student, or whether you’re Catholic or not, we welcome people from all walks of campus – comm majors, business school majors, athletes, Greek life, etc! You can join or be a part of CCM just by attending any of the programs or events, or by getting coffee with one of our student leaders.

If you’re not part of our mailing list yet, please register so you can get weekly emails with announcements and happenings. You can also join the CCM roster on Phoenix Connect (Elon likes to see how many students participate in CCM!).

Can I get involved as a parent, faculty, staff, or alumni?

We would love for you to get involved! Although most of our programming is directed toward students, our celebration of Mass on campus is open to all. We encourage faculty and staff to participate in our other events as it’s always nice for students to be able to interact with you outside of class. At times, there are volunteer opportunities in which you can serve our students. If you’re a parent or alumni, please subscribe to our mailing list or reach out to us at anytime, especially whenever you come on campus. Fr. Peter and our staff love to meet our families.

Catholic Life at Elon is a fully self-funded ministry. We rely on our donors to fund our programs, events, supplies, and personnel as we do not receive financial support from Elon University. And unlike parishes that have weekly income from collections, our congregation is comprised of students with limited ability to give at this time in their lives. If you would like to get involved by becoming a donor, please support us on Elon Day or see our other ways to give. In addition, you are always able to designate to CCM any time you make a gift to the university.
