The Elon Phoenix family of graphics and marks symbolizes the university’s traditions and history, as well as the elevation of the Elon Phoenix as strong competitors in the Coastal Athletic Association and NCAA Division I athletics.

Elon fields 17 teams in NCAA Division I (FCS football). The mascot is the Phoenix, symbolizing the university’s triumphant recovery from the 1923 fire that devastated the campus — much like the legendary Phoenix rises from its own ashes — as well as a fighting spirit.

Men’s sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, football, soccer and tennis. Women’s sports include basketball, cross country, golf, indoor track, lacrosse, outdoor track and field, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball.

The Phoenix Athletics graphics and marks are designed for use in publications, on television, on apparel and in all online mediums. For questions about appropriate usage of the Phoenix Athletics graphic identity and to request marks, contact Mary DeFriest, assistant athletics director of marketing and fan engagement, at mdefriest2@elon.edu.

Athletics Colors

Maroon and gold were adopted as the Elon colors circa 1910, and various shades of these colors have been used throughout the school’s history. Today, the primary maroon color is Pantone 188 and the gold is Pantone 872 (metallic ink) or Pantone 7503 (non-metallic).

Accurate reproduction of the Elon colors depends on the medium and/or software programs being used. It is essential to choose the right file type and color systems for print publications, digital screen displays or other applications.
