Elon is #60 in the nation and #3 in North Carolina in new college ranking

College Consensus is a college ranking aggregator that combines scores from major college rankings and student review sites.  

College Consensus, a new approach to college quality measurement, ranks Elon University #60 in the nation and #3 in North Carolina. The organization arrives at its rankings by combining the results of “all the most reputable college ranking publishers and thousands of real student reviews from around the web."

Elon’s national ranking of #60 among 1,062 colleges and universities is based on Elon’s evaluation in college rankings by U.S. News & World Report, Forbes, the Center for College Affordability and Productivity and Washington Monthly, along with student reviews posted on Niche, Unigo, My Plan, Cappex and Students Review.

College Consensus North Carolina rankings and scores:

  1. Davidson College – 78 (ranked #27 nationally)
  2. Duke University – 77 (ranked #37 nationally)
  3. Elon University – 74 (ranked #60 nationally)
  4. Wake Forest University - 73 (ranked #62 nationally)
  5. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill – 73 (ranked #65 nationally)

According to the College Consensus article on higher education in the state, "North Carolina’s exceptional higher education system has made it a 21st century model of economic growth and development, and promises even bigger things in the future."

In describing the state's reputation for excellence in higher education, College Consensus writes, “Not one, but two Southern Ivies call North Carolina home: Duke University and Wake Forest University, both built on the philanthropy of North Carolina’s tobacco magnates and both counted among the greatest private research institutions in the nation.
