Faculty/Staff Campaign reception TODAY
Donors to the campaign are invited to join President Lambert for an ice cream social on Tuesday, May 1, from 4-5 p.m. in McKinnon D and E.
To date, 754 faculty and staff, or 62 percent, have contributed more than $300,000 to the 2011-2012 campaign, which has a goal of 65 percent participation. Last year, a record 60 percent of faculty and staff made a gift to the university, nearly doubling the participation from 2009-2010, when 34 percent made a gift. At Elon Law, 100 percent of faculty and staff have made gifts this year.
Faculty and staff who have made a gift this fiscal year (June 1, 2011 to May 31, 2012), will celebrate the success of the campaign at a special reception today. President Lambert and campaign co-chairs Rhonda Belton, director of application technologies, and Paul Miller, professor of exercise science, will offer remarks.
There is still time to participate in the campaign, which ends May 31. This year, donors have supported scholarships, the Elon Experiences programs, academic departments and schools, and athletics among other priorities. The success of this year’s campaign has been fueled by the efforts of more than 50 volunteer captains across campus who have helped educate co-workers about the importance of annual gifts from faculty and staff.
“The Faculty/Staff Campaign is about supporting Elon every year,” Belton says. “All gifts are appreciated and make a difference to students. We are asking employees to donate what they can because it all adds up in the end.”
