The Southern Conference academic honors for fall semester include 32 Elon students on six teams.

The Southern Conference has announced its Academic All-Conference team for the fall 2012 season. Elon University had 32 student-athletes receive academic all-conference honors in a total of six sports.

Among the 302 student-athletes were at least 14 representatives from each of the 12 SoCon institutions, participating in men’s and women’s cross country, football, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball. Fifteen student-athletes have maintained a 4.0 cumulative GPA.

Over the 2012 calendar year, Elon had a total of 76 Academic All-Conference honorees, second in the SoCon to Wofford's 80.

To be eligible, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA entering the fall season and were required to compete in at least one-half of their team’s competitions during the recently-concluded campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours in the previous two semesters.

The league’s women’s soccer programs provided the most academic all-conference members with 79, followed by football with 58 and women's cross country with 51.
