Fayetteville Observer: All Out - New law opens campus crime information
From the Fayetteville Observer (6/17/13): The General Assembly has passed a bill that brings some clarity to the issue of how much arrest information campus police may withhold from the public. Short version: Some, but not much.
The law, signed last week by Gov. Pat McCrory, comes after a long legal battle that began at Elon University but was never fully resolved, ending in a tie vote by the state Supreme Court. The tie left in place a ruling that Elon's agency was not subject to the state's public records law.
