The Gerald L. Francis Center is the new home of Elon's School of Health Sciences, including the doctor of physical therapy program and the master of physician assistant studies program. The physician assistant studies program has 10,000 square feet of dedicated teaching space including two classrooms, a clinical skills laboratory, five simulated exam rooms, a cardiopulmonary auscultation lab, wet dissection/clinical procedure lab, and six small group study rooms. Shared space includes a human donor anatomy lab, locker rooms, and numerous student common spaces.
Additional equipment will include a Harvey™ Cardiopulmonary simulator, high definition cameras for use with clinical skills examinations, and state of the art classroom technology.
The facility is named to honor Executive Vice President Gerald L. Francis, who has dedicated his entire academic career to Elon. Behind the Francis Center are new intramural and club sports playing fields connected by a road to the Danieley Center residential neighborhood.
