Rising juniors and seniors may apply by March 20, 2015 to serve as interns for the 2015-2016 year. Interns meet with mentors, set goals, begin professional development opportunities, and determine projects during the fall. Interns must be on campus during winter term to work 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday on their projects. Interns meet with their mentors and attend executive intern orientation with Office of the President staff. Interns participate in a kickoff lunch with Senior Staff, monthly meetings with mentors to explore possible projects they can assist with, interviews with their mentor's direct reports and weekly meetings with senior staff members. Interns should plan to spend 2-4 hours per week on these activities in the fall.
The majority of interns’ work is concentrated in Winter Term as interns work with senior staff mentors and their respective offices to collaborate and complete projects in those offices. Winter Term is a full-time 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday commitment. Interns work with mentors, attend meetings, work with senior staff members, conduct research, interact with other interns, and work to complete projects.
During the spring semester interns derive meaning from their experiences. They present their projects to appropriate work teams/committees as determined by their mentors and conclude any requirements to receive academic credit. Interns attend the spring Board of Trustees meeting and a farewell breakfast with senior staff members. Interns facilitate and participate in the application and interview process for the following year’s team of interns.
