The different components that make up the Executive Internship broadened my perspective in how I wanted to make a difference with my life. Through the program I realized my passion for higher education. Today, I have the privilege of making a difference in academia as a fundraiser and special event coordinator at NC State. – Phoebe Kot ’14

During the Fall Semester, students will meet with their supervisor, attend group meetings with members of Senior Staff, and participate in customized professional development sessions. With their supervisor, interns will explore possible projects and set goals for Winter Term. Students should plan to spend 2-4 hours per week on these activities throughout the Fall Semester.
The internship is concentrated during Winter Term as interns work with their supervisor and respective offices to collaborate and complete assigned projects. Winter Term is a full-time 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday commitment. Interns work with supervisors, attend meetings, work with senior staff members, conduct research, interact with other interns, and work to complete projects.
During the Spring Semester, interns will reflect upon their experiences. Interns will present their projects to appropriate work teams/committees, as determined by their supervisor, and conclude any requirements to receive academic credit. Interns attend the spring Board of Trustees meeting and a farewell breakfast with senior staff members. Interns facilitate and participate in the application and interview process for the following year’s team of interns.
