The different components that make up the Executive Internship broadened my perspective in how I wanted to make a difference with my life. Through the program I realized my passion for higher education. Today, I have the privilege of making a difference in academia as a fundraiser and special event coordinator at NC State.
During the Fall Semester, students are required to meet with their supervisor, attend orientation and other planned activities. With their supervisor, interns will discuss the planned projects for their assigned department and set goals for Winter Term.
The internship is concentrated during Winter Term as interns work with their supervisor and respective offices to collaborate and complete assigned projects. Winter Term is a full-time 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday commitment. Interns work with supervisors, attend meetings, work with senior staff members, conduct research, interact with other interns, and work to complete projects.
During the Spring Semester, interns will reflect upon their experiences. Interns will present their projects, as determined by their supervisor, and conclude any requirements to receive academic credit. Interns facilitate and participate in the application and interview process for next class of interns. Interns attend a farewell breakfast with senior staff members.
