Weekly Opportunities

  • Elon Yoga Club – Fall 2017 meets Mondays at 7:30pm in Sacred Space, Numen Lumen Pavilion (begins 9/11)
  • Numen Lumen – Musical offerings and personal reflections, Thrusdays at 9:50am in Sacred Space
  • Iron Tree Blooming – Meditation Club sits every Thursday at 4:15pm in Numen Lumen McBride Room

Koru Mindfulness Workshops & Retreats
Koru Mindfulness is a program developed at Duke University especially for emerging adults that teaches students skills and perspectives to help manage stress, improve health and well-being, and increase compassion for self and others. Jennifer Brigman and Joel Harter organize 1-2 workshops and retreats each semester on main campus and at the law school.

  • Koru Basic Workshop – 4 week workshop introducing students to Mindfulness through simple meditation practices and breathing exercises. Signup for upcoming workshops here or on PhoenixCONNECT.
  • Koru Retreat – 4 hour mostly silent retreat with guided meditaiton (sitting, walking, eating) and yoga, as well as a brief introduction to Mindfulness. The next retreat is December 2. Signup here or on PhoenixCONNECT.

Counseling
Many of Elon's Counselors use Mindfulness techniques to help students manage stress and anxiety. Contact Jennifer Brigman for more information.

Religious and Spiritual Life
The chaplains recognize the importance of Mindful awareness and compassion for spiritual life and holistic well-being, and support opportunities for meditation, centering prayer, yoga, and contemplative worship for students from all traditions (religious and non-religious). Numen Lumen Pavilion has a meditation garden and spaces for meditation and prayer, and there is a labyrinth beside Holt Chapel for walking meditation.

  • Interfaith House: Mindfully Plural – Interfaith House LLC is an intentional living community for junior and senior students from diverse religious and nonreligious backgrounds. Residents explore Mindfulness together within the context of interfaith exploration and community. Contact Multi-faith Coordinator Carrie Seigler for details. 
  • Sand Mandala – Nov 1-3 in Sacred Space, Numen Lumen Pavilion
  • Mindfully Christian Beach Retreat – Sept 22-24 – Integrating Mindfulness and faith for Christians (and interested others). Contact Joel Harter for more information.
