Meet Elon's newest employees

Cynthia Rice, Senior Technician
Cynthia Rice is originally from Philadelphia, Pa. She comes to Elon after working at Wake Forest Baptist Health. She has one son, Jared, and enjoys spending her free time dancing, traveling and watching sports.

Jay G Field, Custodian
Jay Field comes to Elon after working as a self-employed auto technician. He hails from Greensboro, N.C. and was attracted to Elon because of the proximity to his home, which he shares with his wife, Sherry. In his spare time, Jay enjoys reading, playing guitar, rock collecting, watching movies, cooking and being outdoors.

Catherine G. Sanchez, Custodian 3rd Shift
Catherine Sanchez has a 4-year-old daughter named Vanna. She comes to Elon after working in customer service at MSG Services and in housekeeping in a nursing home. Catherine enjoys reading and riding her bike.

Melody Harter, Program Assistant for the Center for Leadership
Melody Harter is excited to contribute to the life of the mind at a university and to work with students. She previously worked at the University of Chicago, Albion College and Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. Melody is a classically trained pianist who studied at Interlochen Arts Academy and Vanderbilt University. She and her husband, Joel, who serves as Elon’s Associate Chaplain for Protestant Life, have two children, Lewis and Annalise. In her spare time, Melody enjoys teaching piano, attending concerts, plays and exhibits, reading and hiking.

John Walsh, Circulation Paraprofessional
John Walsh, from Garner, N.C. received his bachelor’s degree in religion from Wake Forest University. He came to Elon he wanted a career in higher education and he has experience in an academic library. Those factors and the staff of the law library made Elon an attractive opportunity for him. Josh lives with his cat, Bowman. In his free time, he enjoys reading, hammocking, eating Bojangles and watching college athletic events.

Craig Marimpietri, Video Producer
Craig Marimpietri went to Chapel Hill High School, the same school that singer James Taylor attended, and graduated from Appalachian State University. He previously worked in the production and news departments at WXII-TV in Winston-Salem. He was attracted to Elon because of the feeling of community, and how Elon feels like a second family. He is proud to be a part of the team creating videos that represent the best that Elon has to offer. In his free time Craig enjoys watching Tar Heel basketball, hiking plying roller hockey and photography. He is very close to his family and friends, which is the reason he has never considered leaving North Carolina.
