Catherine Wasson elected to national legal writing executive board

Catherine J. Wasson, associate professor of law and director of Elon Law’s legal method & communication program, has been elected to the executive board of the Association of Legal Writing Directors (ALWD).

ALWD is a non-profit professional association of directors of legal reasoning, research, writing, analysis, and advocacy programs throughout the United States, Canada and Australia. The organization’s mission is to help law schools provide excellent legal writing instruction by supporting scholarship in the discipline, promoting the professional development of legal writing professionals, and advocating on behalf of the discipline within the legal academy and the legal profession. The organization publishes The ALWD Guide to Legal Citation and a peer-reviewed journal, Legal Communication & Rhetoric.  

Elon Law Professor Catherine Wasson is coauthor of the book “A Practical Guide to Legal Writing & Reasoning” (Wolters Kluwer), now in its fifth edition. Wasson was elected to the ALWD Board of Directors in 2010 and reelected for a second term in 2013. She will assume the office of Treasurer on August 1.
