Meet Elon's newest employees

Jamie P. Baldwin, Custodian

Jamie Baldwin is from Elon, N.C. She has a degree in commercial art and graphic design and wanted to work at Elon because she loves the area and the university is growing and has so many wonderful people working there. She and husband Steve have a son, Cody, and a rabbit named Rusty.

Ann Bullock, Dean of the School of Education

Ann Bullock is from Danville, Va. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Appalachian State University, her Masters in Education at New Mexico State University, and her Ph.D. at Virginia Commonwealth University. Before joining Elon’s staff, she worked at East Carolina University. She and husband Scott have two children and one dog. In her spare time, Ann enjoys spending time at the beach and doing CrossFit.

Mikaela Davis, Assistant Athletic Trainer

Mikaela Davis is from Cary, N.C. She earned a bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was previously a graduate assistant athletic trainer for UNC-Chapel Hill for two years. Mikaela enjoys swimming, tennis, golf, cooking and baking. She was drawn to Elon because its top-notch Division I athletic programs.

James C. Day, Custodian

James Day used to work with Aramark. He is married and enjoys all sports in his free time.

Julia Delacroix, Visiting Assistant Professor of English

Julia Delacroix is from Baton Rouge, La. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Texas. Julia previously worked at Southeastern University and Darius & Elkins College. In her spare time, Julia enjoys gardening and spending time with friends and family. Julia says: “I am excited to be joining such a vibrant campus community.”

Odis Fogleman, Bio Bus Driver

Odis Fogleman is from Mebane, N.C. He previously drove for ACTA and in his spare time he enjoys playing golf. Odis and wife Judy have one dog.

Owen Gold, IT Contractor

Owen Gold is a high school graduate from Whitsett, N.C. He has one cat, Meow and enjoys competitive chess and piano.

Seth Gerringer, Lead Male Mentor

Seth Gerringer is from Burlington, N.C. He earned a bachelor’s degree in religion from Wake Forest University. Seth has one dog and enjoys reading and swimming.

Hunter M. Harrison, Fleet Mechanic II

Hunter Harrison is from Graham, N.C. Hunter previously worked at Imports Europa and is excited to work in a local community. Hunter enjoys spending time at Hyco Lake.

Frank Hartfield Jr., Community Director

Frank Hartfield Jr. is from St. Louis, Mo. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Webster University and his master’s from the University of Central Arkansas. He previously worked at the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater. Frank and his wife have one dog named Ty. Frank says what drew him to Elon was: “I wanted an intimate and warm place to start a family and develop my career.”

Heather Hauser, Administrative Assistant

Heather Hauser is from Graham, N.C. She received her bachelor’s degree in human services from Judson University and a master’s in management and leadership from Montreat College. She previously worked at Edward Jones as a Branch Office Administrator. Heather and husband Richard have two children.

Kara Jo Hawkins, Program Assistant

Kara Jo Hawkins is from Ocala, Fla. She received her bachelor’s from the University of South Florida and previously worked as a marketing specialist and leasing consultant. She was recently married to John Matson Hawkins and in her spare time, she enjoys reading, gardening, and DIY crafts.

Kayla Holder, Admissions Counselor for Transfer and Special Admissions

Kayla Holder is from King, N.C. and received her bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Elon. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her dog Piper, reading and watching movies.

Tarah Holland, Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions

Tarah Holland is from Rocky Mount, Va. She received her bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication from North Carolina Agriculture & Technical State University and her master’s degree in interactive media from Elon. Her previous work kept her primarily in the newspaper and tourism industries. Tarah says: “I’m excited about joining Elon’s Office of Graduate Admissions and using my knowledge and skills to help grow the Interactive Media and School of Education’s graduate programs.”

Mignon Ivory, Shuttle Bus Driver

Mignon Ivory is from Phoenix, Ariz. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her four children, reading and attending church. Elon appealed to her because of the beautiful scenery and the cozy environment.

Johnathan James, Plumbing Assistant/Mechanic

Johnathan James previously worked at Triple-A Heating and Cooling. He has an associates degree in HVAC-R and is from Reidsville, N.C. Johnathan has a 1 year-old daughter named Cooper.

Sarah Kehl, Program Assistant- Global Neighborhood, Residence Life

Sarah Kehl earned her bachelor and teaching license in music from the University of Oregon. She has taught music in three previous schools all over the country and is “thrilled to be joining the Elon family.” Her husband is Adam Kehl, the director of Bands at Elon. They have two basset hounds, Alex and George.

Carolyn Macaulay, Admissions Counselor

Carolyn Macaulay is from Williamsburg, Va. She received her bachelor’s degree in education from Elon in 2013. After teaching for three years in Asheboro, N.C., she wanted to return to Elon because it is truly a place that she thinks of as home. In her spare time, Carolyn likes to read, travel, spend time with family and outdoors in the sunshine with her dog, Murphy.

Bob Martin, Assistant Professor of Business Law

Bob Martin is from Queens, N.Y. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the Pratt Institute and his juris doctorate from Nova Southeastern. He has worked in many law offices and now that he has retired the next step seemed to be teaching for him. Bob and wife Connie have two children and one dog. In his free time, Bob enjoys meditating, cooking and writing.

George Maxson, Database Administrator

George Maxson is living in Mebane N.C. He received his BSIT from Navy Nuclear Power School. His previous work involved working in manufacturing and nuclear machines for the U.S. Navy. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, sailing, fishing and attending church.

Rhett Nelson, Lecturer in Music

Rhett Nelson is from Plano, Texas. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University, master’s from University of Miami and graduate certificate from the University of Southern California. He has worked as a composer all over the country with many different companies. Rhett and wife Trisha have one son. In his spare time, he enjoys surfing, skiing and mountain biking.

Megan O’Neal, Program Assistant

Megan O’Neal is from Mebane, N.C. and received her education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has previously worked for in the financial industry. Her husband is Joshua Kirby and son is Trey, 4. They also have a dog named Tiny. In her spare time, she teaches dance at the Centre of Performing Arts in Graham, N.C.

Nicholas Deron Overman, Grounds Keeper/Maintenance

Nicholas Overman is from Gibsonville, N.C. He has a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and social studies. Previously, he was a self-employed teacher and coach. He has three kids and in his spare time, he enjoys the beach, sports and motorcycles. 

Dianne M. Person, Director of the Anatomical Gift Program

Dianne Person joins Elon staff after working at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She has a degree in medical humanities with some graduate coursework as well. She and husband Steven Christopher are the proud parents of Jessica Drake, 36. Dianne loves doing outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, and fishing with her daughter and grandson.

Belinda D. Poole, Housekeeping

Belinda Poole is from Graham, N.C. Before joining Elon’s staff, she worked at White Oak Manor. She has one son, T’Si Slade, 8. Belinda enjoys family time and is excited for Elon to be a new adventure.

Kaila Price, Community Director

Kaila Price is from Coral Springs, Fla. She attended school at Florida State University and Appalachian State University and also previously worked at Suffolk University. In her free time, she and her partner, Andrea, enjoy hiking, soccer and tennis.

Brad Puckett, Academic Coordinator

Brad Puckett is from Urbana, Ohio. He earned his bachelor’s from Urbana University and his Masters of Education from Wright State University. Brad also previously worked at Wright State University and is excited to join Elon’s amazing staff.

Suzy Robertson, Adjunct Professor of Chemistry

Suzy Robertson is from Ocala, Fla. She has a master’s in chemistry and previously worked at University of Florida, ABC research laboratories, and N.C. State University. In her spare time, Suzy and husband Ben Blomberg enjoy gardening, cooking and traveling.

Carolina (Carrie) Seigler, Multi-faith and Intern Coordinator

Carrie Seigler is from Greenville, S.C. She previously worked at Urban Justice Center and GLAAD in New York City. She has a bachelor’s degree in sociology and poverty studies from Furman University. Carrie is excited to be part of an enthusiastic team that is really committed to inter-faith and multi-faith spaces on campus.

Kim Shively, Assistant Professor of Acting

Kim Shively is from Frankfort, Ky. She earned her BFA from Chapman University and her MFA from the ASOLO Conservatory for Actor Training at Florida State University. Kim was previously a professional actor. She and husband Ryan have two children. 

Alfred Simkin, Assistant Professor

Alfred Simkin is from Arlington, Va. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Earlham College and his Ph.D. in molecular evolution from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He was previously a postdoctoral associate at Cornell University. Alfred is married and is excited about Elon because he has always wanted to teach, especially at a university that puts teaching first.

Adam Thompson, Technician Assistant

Adam Thompson is a high school graduate from Elon, N.C. He has four dogs and enjoys video games and spending time with his girlfriend. Adam is excited to further his technical knowledge.

Darrell K. Timmons, Custodian

Darrell Timmons is from Burlington, N.C. and previously worked with Guilford County Schools.

Kaye Usry, Interim Assistant Director Elon University Poll

Kaye Usry is from Raleigh, N.C. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from N.C. State University and her master’s degree in political science from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Jessica Leigh Waldman, Director of Jewish Life

Before joining Elon’s staff, Jessica Waldman ran the Cornell University Hillel. She has a master’s degree in criminal justice from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is from Charlotte, N.C., and enjoys all kind of water activities. Jessica says Elon was attractive to her because, “The intentional nature of the community and the rich diversity of the faculty, staff and students!”

Kimberly Ward, Custodian

Kimberly Ward is from Elon, N.C. and previously worked with Oaks of Alamance. She is married to husband Richard, and they have one daughter, one son and a cat. In her free time, Kimberly likes to read, shop, cook and play with her kids. 

Timothy “Joe” Whitsett, Utilities Maintenance Mechanic

Joe Whitsett is from Reidsville, N.C. He previously worked with Alamance Oil Company and attended Rockingham County High School. He and wife Heather have three children and two dogs. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching soccer.

Elon’s Newest Arrivals

• Erika Lopina, assistant professor of psychology, and husband Matt welcomed their daughter Lucy Helen, on Aug. 10. Lucy joins big sister Noel.
• Tyson Hankins, university accompanist, and wife Caroline welcomed their daughter Molly Catherine, on Aug. 14.
