Elon Music Theatre program earns top accolades from Playbill, Backstage and others

Elon this year has been recognized and ranked as one of the top musical theatre programs in the country by Backstage, Playbill, Dance Magazine and more.

Each year, the Elon BFA Music Theatre program is recognized as one of the most prestigious programs in the country, with this year, bringing an increasing amount of recognition and national accolades.

Just this month, the program was featured as one of the “Top 10 Colleges Represented on Broadway” by Playbill, the #1 U.S. monthly magazine for theatergoers. Honorable mentions were given to JJ Niemann (“The Book of Mormon”), Gerald Caesar (“A Bronx Tale”), Johnny Stellard (“Anastasia”), among many more of our notable alums on Broadway.

Backstage.com listed Elon’s program as one of the “10 Musical Theatre College Programs You Should Know”, ranking the program for its skill-building, performance opportunities, post-college preparation, and notable alums. The website is known as “the most trusted place for actors and performers to find jobs and career advice” for more than 50 years.

Dance Magazine featured Elon as one of three “Dance-Friendly Musical Theatre programs” in the country. Dance Magazine states, “If you choose to go the musical theater route, find a program that will challenge your dance technique,” and we are proud to be acknowledged for the well-roundedness of our training.

Additionally noting Elon’s Music Theatre alumni, a Buzzfeed article ranked Elon #3 on their list: “Top 10 Under 10: Top 10 Musical Theatre Programs (Based On Successful Alumni Within The Last 10 Years Since Graduation).” The outlet notes the many Broadway shows you can see our alumni shine in, such as “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical,” “Cats,” “Hello, Dolly!,” “Anastasia,” “Wicked” and more.

More notable recognition comes from OnStageBlog, which features Elon for the second year in a row in their “Top 10 BFA Musical Theatre Programs.”
