The Seattle Alumni Chapter facilitated the StrengthsQuest personal and professional assessment for local alumni.
What are your strengths and weaknesses? This common interview question is what the Seattle Alumni Chapter sought to answer in its first alumni professional development event on Tuesday, Dec. 12.
The Seattle Chapter board members, in partnership with Elon Director of Career Development Ross Wade, provided and facilitated the StrengthsQuest personal and professional assessment for 18 Seattle-based alumni.
StrengthsQuest begins with a 30-mintue online assessment, developed to assess your natural patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. It provides instantaneous results of five “talent themes,” which identify strengths and encourage ways to develop both personally and professionally.
All attendees brought their assessment results to the event at Miir Flagship, where they enjoyed networking and mingling prior to an actively engaged discussion on StrengthsQuest. The discussion session was facilitated by Seattle Chapter Board Secretary Laura Randall '11.
The attendees shared stories from careers that related to their assessments and the event's discussion. The alumni in attendance came from industries ranging from nursing to accounting and many others in between.
The chapter's goal of the event was for all attendees to have a takeaway. Some may have left with answers to the strengths and weaknesses question. Others better realized the differences or strengths in others.
