Professor Cynthia “Cindy” Fair in the Department of Human Service Studies had an abstract titled “Reproductive Health Decision-Making in Perinatally HIV-Infected Adolescents and Young Adults” published in Reviews in Infectious Diseases & Antiviral Therapy.
It was accepted as part of the 4th International Workshop on HIV Pediatrics held in Washington, D.C., from July 20-21.
The abstract was written with colleagues who attended last fall’s think tank on reproductive decisions among adolescents with perinatally-acquired HIV held at National Institutes of Health.
Additionally, Jamie Albright ’13, a public health studies major joined Fair in presenting at the International AIDS Conference in the nation’s capital at the end of July. Albright is co-author on a presentation titled “‘I’m positive, I have something to say’: Assessing a creative writing group for adolescents living with HIV.” The abstract was also co-authored with Elon alumna Emily Wise as well as colleagues from Duke University Medical Center and the Creative Writing Department at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Fair also presented another research project, “Disease Knowledge and Quality of Patient/Provider Interaction among Adolescents with Perinatally-Acquired HIV: Implications for Transition to Adult Care,” which was co-authored by former Elon Assistant Professor Kristen Sullivan, who is now at the Duke Global Health Institute; Rachel Dizney, a colleague at Duke University Medical Center; and Avra Stackpole, an Elon alumna.
