Scot Wingo, a N.C. based tech entrepreneur, and Ashton Newhall ’98, a venture capitalist, will share their stories and experiences about being on the front lines of the innovation economy.

As CEO and co-founder of ChannelAdvisor, Scot Wingo leads the company in its mission to help retailers successfully sell across multiple channels with its software-as-a-service solution. Prior to launching ChannelAdvisor, Wingo successfully started and exited two companies, establishing himself as a serial entrepreneur as well as an expert and thought leader in the technology and e-commerce industries. As a thought leader, he often speaks at e-commerce industry conferences, and his thoughts on e-commerce have been published in the Wall Street Journal, NY Times, Fortune, Wired, Financial Times and BusinessWeek. Within the technology realm, Wingo advises several companies and serves on the Technology Advisory Committee at Southern Capital Ventures. He also regularly gives back to the community through his work with Shop.org, the Council for Entrepreneurial Development, the Entrepreneurship Initiative at North Carolina State University and the North Carolina State University Engineering Foundation. Wingo received a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Computer Science degree from North Carolina State University. Wingo is often recognized both locally and beyond for his achievements, earning him the Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award and Triangle Business Journal’s Top 40 under 40 award.

Ashton Newhall, a third-generation venture capitalist, co-founded Greenspring Associates in 2000, and manages the firm’s office in Owings Mills, Md. Before co-founding Greenspring Associates, he was at T. Rowe Price Associates (“T. Rowe Price”), where he was one of the youngest marketers of the firm’s investment management services to both institutions and high net worth investors. Specifically, he marketed T. Rowe Price investment management services to the general partners of venture capital funds and entrepreneurs in both the United States and abroad. Newhall serves on the Board of Trustees of Elon University, Bessemer Venture Partners, Domain Associates, Pelion Venture Partners, the Limited Partner Advisory Board for QuestMark Partners, and the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association Selection Committee.Newhall graduated from Elon College. He also studied via exchange programs at the University of Legon in Accra, Ghana and Curtin University in Perth, Australia.
