The Elon M.Ed.
Elon’s newly structured 30-hour M.Ed. program with an emphasis in Innovation in Education is part-time and designed for teachers who are graduates of accredited institutions and initially licensed to teach. Courses are delivered online in the summer, spring and fall semesters.
Our program has been designed to disrupt practitioners’ traditional concepts of schooling and move teachers toward more progressive visions and praxis. Candidates are: (1.) introduced to a range of progressive student-centered pedagogies such as project-based learning and place-based education, (2.) asked to reimagine education within a constructivist framework, allowing for equitable learning opportunities that are respectful and responsive of students’ backgrounds, and (3.) offered opportunities to experiment in their own practice with innovative pedagogies.
