Summary of Position

The Intramural Sports Official is responsible for the safety, enforcement of intramural policies, and provides excellent customer service to Elon students/faculty/staff.

Learning Practices

Through employment in Campus Recreation, the official will:

  • Develop transferrable skills such as teamwork, communication, time management, organization, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and decision-making.
  • Be able to articulate the value of recreation & wellness in the overall college student experience.
  • Be able to officiate and supervise at least three different team sports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as an official and scorekeeper for various intramural sports
  • Adhere to safety and risk management policies, and ensure participant safety
  • Learn and master sport rules and officiating mechanics for various sports
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all Campus Recreation programs and services
  • Foster strong partnerships with other members of the Sport Programs team, as well as colleagues throughout Campus Recreation
  • Deliver quality customer service to all patrons, program participants, and visitors
  • Attend all Intramural Sports team meetings and trainings
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (classes offered through Campus Recreation if hired by department)
