Canvas Early Access Preview is Now Available
Canvas is now available for faculty and staff to explore and begin preparing for Fall 2026.
Just a reminder, no immediate changes are required. This spring and summer are a time for exploration and preparation. Students will gain access to Canvas later this summer, and courses will not be taught in Canvas until August 2026.
Start Here: Canvas Transition Hub
The Canvas Transition Hub is your central location for everything related to the transition.
From the Hub, you can:
-
Get started with Canvas and migrate your courses from Moodle
-
Learn how to prepare your course
-
Access FAQs and ongoing updates
We recommend beginning with the Getting Started section to explore your dashboard, access your fall 2026 courses or sandbox courses, and get familiar with Canvas.
Access Canvas
You can now log in using your Elon credentials and begin exploring: Access Canvas at elon.edu/canvas.
Once logged in:
-
You will see courses you’ve been assigned to teach in Fall 2026 (unpublished)
-
A sandbox or practice course will be available, with additional sandboxes available upon request
-
Non-academic courses are not currently available
If something is not working as expected, you can submit a support request for assistance.
Preparing Your Course
When you’re ready, you can begin preparing your Fall 2026 courses in Canvas.
Course migration guidance is available through the Canvas Transition Hub and includes how to export your Moodle course and import it into Canvas.
-
Most content will transfer successfully
-
Some elements may need review or adjustment
This process is flexible. You can start now, later this spring, over the summer, or during Planning Week. We’re here to support you as you explore and begin building your Fall courses.
Course Templates
New Canvas courses will include Elon course templates. These templates include commonly used course elements and university-wide student resources to help reduce setup time and support a more consistent student experience.
Templates are intended as a helpful starting point, not a requirement. You can choose to use, modify, or remove the template based on your preferences.

A range of support options is available to meet your needs and schedule.
