Elon College to dedicate Danieley Center on Tuesday, Oct. 12

ELON COLLEGE – Elon College will dedicate the James Earl Danieley Center, a complex of residence halls, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12.
The outdoor ceremony will be held in the area between Buildings D and E. A reception will follow.

The area formerly known as East Campus was renamed late last year in honor of President Emeritus J. Earl Danieley, who served as president of the college from 1957 to 1973. He currently teaches in the chemistry department. His family, including his three children and five grandchildren, will attend the ceremony.

The area located off East Haggard Avenue has 11 residence halls, five of which opened this summer, as well as a dining facility and commons building.

“We feel highly honored to have this area named for our family,” Danieley said. “The response from students and their parents to the new housing has been overwhelmingly positive.”
