ELON COLLEGE – Hundreds of Elon College alumni will return to campus Oct. 29-31 for Homecoming Reunion Weekend. This year’s theme is “Flashback! A Century in Review.”
Registration begins at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29 in Moseley Center and continues on Saturday, Oct. 30 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Friday’s events include a golf tournament at Stoney Creek Golf Course and a tribute to the late Hollywood producer Kenneth Utt, a 1942 graduate, at 7 p.m. Players and coaches of the Elon College World Series teams of 1985, 1987 and 1989 will be honored at a 6:30 p.m. reception in Koury Center. The classes of 1994, 1989, 1984, 1979, 1969, 1964, 1959, and 1954 will hold reunion receptions from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in McKinnon Hall in Moseley Center.
On Saturday, the second annual prayer breakfast will be held at 8 a.m. in the Elon College Community Church Parish House. The Homecoming parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Haggard Avenue and will feature classic cars. Children from the Elon College community are invited to wear their Halloween costumes and march in the parade.
Awards will be presented to the college’s outstanding alumni at 11:30 a.m. in McKinnon Hall. That afternoon the football team plays Charleston Southern University at 2 p.m. in Burlington Memorial Stadium. The Alumni Extravaganza! will be held at 8 p.m. in Moseley Center.
On Sunday morning at Elon College Community Church, the reunion classes will honor their deceased classmates during an 11 a.m. service. The festivities end with a performance by the Alamance Jazz Band at 3 p.m. in Whitley Auditorium.
