Elon College to present

ELON COLLEGE – The Department of Performing Arts’ upcoming production of “A Chorus Line” has special meaning for its director and choreographer.

The play will be presented at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday,
Feb. 10-12 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13 in McCrary Theatre in the Faith Rockefeller Model Center for the Arts on the college’s campus. Tickets are $10 and can be reserved by the calling the box office at 336-584-2199 Monday through Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Linda Sabo, assistant professor of performing arts, who is in her first year of teaching at Elon, saw the musical when it was performed on Broadway. “It was almost as if they were telling my story,” said the longtime dancer.
Elon’s production won’t recreate all the play’s original choreography. “I decided to not recreate this icon of a play. This production is related to the times, and I believe it has more meaning in the now,” Sabo said.

The cast of 27 students can easily relate to the play’s theme about performers singing and dancing their way through auditions. “The students are very focused and energized,” she said. “They easily have slipped into their roles.”
