Elon College announces alumni awards

The Elon College Alumni Association will honor four distinguished alumni and friends of the college with this year’s association awards. The recipients will be honored in a ceremony Nov. 4.

Kerrii Brown Anderson of Dublin, Ohio, is the Distinguished Alumna of the Year. A 1979 graduate of Elon, she is executive vice president and Chief Financial Officer of Wendy’s International Inc. She is also involved as a director, board member and advisor for several community organizations.

Margaret Patillo Cass of Greensboro, N.C., receives the Alumni Service Award. She is a member of Elon’s class of 1957. She is a board member of the National Federation of Music Clubs and is active in many fine arts organizations.

R. Cruse Lewis of Burlington, N.C., was selected for the Citizen’s Service of the Year Award. He has given his time and personal resources for the advancement of the college. Lewis is also instrumental in attracting potential donors to the school.

Marvin L. Morgan of Atlanta, Ga., receives the Service to Church and Society Award. Morgan graduated from Elon in 1971, is an ordained minister of the United Church of Christ and a worldwide leader in providing theological education.

The Alumni Association promotes active participation in college events by its approximately 20,000 members. The association is governed by a national executive board, composed of 60 members who each serve three-year terms.
