Elon faculty promotions approved

The Elon College Board of Trustees approved promotions for 11 faculty members during its March 13-14 meeting.

Pamela Kiser, who has been a member of the human services department since 1981, was promoted to full professor. She has a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Anthony Weston, a member of the philosophy department since 1992, was promoted to full professor. He has a bachelor’s degree from Macalester College, and master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Michigan.

James Brown, who has been at Elon since 1994, was promoted to associate professor of history. He holds bachelor’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Minnesota.

Pranab Das II, a member of the physics department since 1993, was promoted to associate professor. He holds bachelor’s degrees from Reed College and a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin.

Bradley Hamm, who first joined the college in 1989, was promoted to associate professor of journalism/communications. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Catawba College, a master’s degree from the University of South Carolina and a doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Catherine King, a member of the faculty since 1993, was promoted to associate professor of psychology. She holds bachelor’s and doctoral degrees from the University of California and a master’s degree from Northwestern University.

Byung Lee, who has been with the college since 1996, was promoted to associate professor of journalism/communications. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Seoul National University, and master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Missouri.

Maurice Levesque, a member of the psychology department since 1997, was promoted to associate professor. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Bates College, and master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Connecticut.

Gregory Lilly, who has been at the college since 1990, was promoted to associate professor of economics. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University and a doctorate from Duke University.

Kevin O’Mara, a member of the faculty since 1988, was promoted to associate professor of business administration. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin, a master’s degree from the University of Houston and a doctorate from North Carolina State University.

Barth Strempek, who has been at the college since 1994, was promoted to associate professor of business administration. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Business and a doctorate from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
