Singer, songwriter John McCutcheon in concert at Elon, Sept. 6

John McCutcheon, winner of two children’s album of the year awards, will perform a blend of new and traditional music and storytelling at 7:30 pm., Thursday, Sept. 6 in McCrary Theatre, located on the Elon campus in the Faith Rockefeller Model Center for the Fine Arts. The performance is sponsored by the office of student activities and the cultural programs office at Elon.

McCutcheon is a master of the banjo, guitar, autoharp, fiddle and hammer dulcimer, and a songwriter in the tradition of Woody Guthrie and Harry Chapin. His classic “Christmas in the Trenches” has been repeatedly cited as one of the greatest anti-war songs ever written. His concerts are consistently sold out from Russia to Australia.

Tickets for the production are $10 or free with Elon identification. Tickets may be purchased by calling the McCrary Theatre box office at (336) 278- 5610. The box office is open between 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
