Netherlands Chamber Choir in concert, Nov. 15

The highly acclaimed Netherlands Chamber Choir will present a concert at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15 in Whitley Auditorium, located on the Elon campus. The concert is part of the Anne Ellington Powell Master Artists Series, established by Dr. James B. Powell in honor of his wife, Anne Ellington Powell. The series brings internationally acclaimed artists in dance, drama and music to Elon.

The a cappella choir was founded in 1937 and is unique as a full-time professional vocal ensemble which enjoys full financial support from the Dutch government. The choir’s 27 trained singers give priority to ensemble singing and a cappella performances.

The choir performs a concert series in ten cities throughout the Netherlands, and regularly performs with Holland’s Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century and the Budapest Festival Orchestra. They frequently appear in venues throughout Europe and North America.

Tickets for the concert are $15 or free with Elon identification. Tickets may be purchased by calling the McCrary Theatre box office at (336) 278-5610. The box office is open between 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
