Chris Economaki, one of the most respected reporters in the sport of motor racing, will speak to a Winter Term course at Elon University titled “The World of NASCAR” at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 4. Following his visit to the class, Economaki will meet with members of the media at 2:45 p.m. in Long Building, room 108.
Economaki has served as editor of National Speed Sport News, an authoritative weekly publication about motor sports, since 1950. He has also worked as an expert commentator for ABC, CBS and ESPN, covering the Indianapolis 500, the Firecracker 400, the Daytona 500 and the 24 Hours of LeMans.
He has been recognized numerous times for his reporting, earning prestigious awards such as the NASCAR Award of Excellence in 1990 and Lifetime Media Award in 1998.
