Benjamin Verdery, one of America’s outstanding classical guitarists, will perform in concert at 8 p.m., Friday, March 1 in Whitley Auditorium, located on the Elon campus. Chair of the guitar department at Yale University and the Purchase College Conservatory of Music since 1985, Verdery has performed and recorded with acclaimed artists such as Jessye Norman, Paco Pena, John Williams and Leo Kottke. A renowned composer, Verdery’s works have been performed and recorded by guitarists around the world.
Tickets for the concert, which is sponsored in partnership with the Piedmont Classical Guitar Society, are $12 or free for those with Elon identification. Tickets may be purchased by calling Elon’s McCrary Theatre box office at (336) 278-5610. The box office is open from 12:30 p.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
