Christina Hoff Sommers, professor and author of “The War Against Boys,” will speak at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 13 in McCrary Theatre, located on the Elon University campus. Her speech is free and open to the public.
Women’s groups contend that American girls are at academic and social disadvantages because society favors boys. This is not the case, according to Sommers, who argues that it is boys, not girls, who are on the weak side of the gender gap.
In addition to her work as a professor of philosophy at Clark University, Sommers has written four books and appeared on several television shows, including “Nightline,” “20/20,” “Politically Incorrect” and “Oprah.”
Her appearance at Elon is sponsored by the Liberal Arts Forum and supported by a grant from the Young America’s Foundation.
