Elon University announces faculty promotions

The Elon University Board of Trustees approved promotions for 15 professors during its March 11-12 meeting.

Glenda Crawford, a member of the education faculty since 1989, was promoted to full professor. She holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree and a doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

E. Eugene Gooch, a member of the chemistry faculty since 1988, was promoted to full professor. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Carson-Newman College and a doctorate from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Michael Sanford, a member of the art faculty since 1988, was promoted to full professor. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Guilford College and a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Wonhi Synn, a member of the accounting and finance faculty since 1989, was promoted to full professor. He received a bachelor’s degree from Seoul National University, a master’s degree from the University of New Orleans and a doctorate from the University of New York at Buffalo.

Stephen Bailey, a member of the physical therapy education faculty since 1998, was promoted to associate professor. He received bachelor’s degrees from Medical University of South Carolina and Western Maryland College, a master’s degree from Wake Forest University and a doctorate from the University of South Carolina.

Dale Becherer, a member of the performing arts faculty since 1995, was promoted to associate professor. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and a master’s degree from the University of Illinois Champaign/Urbana.

Susan Chinworth, a member of the physical therapy education faculty since 1997, was promoted to associate professor. She received a bachelor’s degree from Washington University, a master’s degree from the University of North Texas and a doctorate at Texas Woman’s University.

Joyce Davis, a member of the health promotion, leisure and human performance faculty since 1997, was promoted to associate professor. She received a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi University for Women, a master’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa and a doctorate from Temple University.

Stephen DeLoach, a member of the economics faculty since 1996, was promoted to associate professor. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska and a master’s degree and doctorate from Michigan State University.

Heidi Glaesel, a member of the geography faculty since 1998, was promoted to associate professor. She received a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and a master’s degree and doctorate from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

J. Todd Lee, a member of the mathematics faculty since 1995, was promoted to associate professor. He received a bachelor’s degree from Guilford College and a master’s degree and doctorate from Texas Tech University.

Janet MacFall, a member of the biology faculty since 1996, was promoted to associate professor. She received a bachelor’s degree from Juniata College, a master’s degree from the University of Maryland and a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin.

Paul Miller, a member of the health promotion, leisure and human performance faculty since 1997, was promoted to associate professor. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, a master’s degree from Cleveland State University and a doctorate from the University of Miami.

Betty Morgan, a member of the political science faculty since 1996, was promoted to associate professor. She received a bachelor’s degree from Elon College, a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a doctorate from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Fredrick Rubeck, a member of the performing arts faculty since 1988, was promoted to associate professor. He received a bachelor’s degree from Illinois Wesleyan University and a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
