Student Government Awards and Inaugural Ceremony

The 7th Annual Elon Student Government Association Organizational Awards and Inaugural Ceremony (OAIC) was held on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 in McKinnon Hall. The OAIC is an annual opportunity for the Student Government Association to recognize student organizations, programs and individuals. The event also serves as the inaugural ceremony for new Student Government Executive Officers.

This year, SGA introduced two new awards at the ceremony. The Service to Students Award recognizes commitment and dedication of University staff members to enhance the experience of students. Kathy Manning, Director of Service Learning was named the recipient of this award.

The Student Government Association also named an award to recognize exemplary student leadership on campus. The J. Earl Danieley Award for Outstanding Student Leadership will be presented each year to one male and one female student who have exemplified strong leadership abilities and performance. SGA was honored that Dr. Danieley presented the awards to the first two recipients, Brian Farrell and Lisa Purtz. Board of Trustees Chair Noel Allen served as keynote speaker for the event and introduced the award and Dr. Danieley.
