Scholarship donors thanked by students

About 80 Elon scholarship recipients and 150 scholarship donors gathered for a recognition dinner April 2. The dinner featured remarks by Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Details...

The dinner, which followed Spring Convocation, revived a long-standing Elon tradition. The generosity of hundreds of scholarship donors, past and present, provides more than $1.5 million annually for students who are outstanding scholars, leaders, musicians and athletes, as well as those who could not attend Elon without some financial assistance.

Trustee Noel Allen and President Leo M. Lambert paid tribute to the donors for their support and commitment to helping students.

Senior Dan Hornyak and junior Jacqueline Morton spoke about the tremendous impact of scholarship support on their ability to finance their education.

Archbishop Tutu expressed gratitude to the donors for believing in the young people who benefit from their scholarships. He then delivered a benediction in English and in his native language.
