Elon business students pass new certified MBA exam

Two MBA students in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business at Elon University have passed the Certified MBA (CMBA) exam, administered by the International Certification Institute (ICI). Steve Cross and Tom White, who will earn their Elon MBA’s on May 23, are among the first group of students to earn the CMBA designation nationwide. Cross and White were among 162 of the 304 initial testers who scored high enough to earn what test designers considered necessary for the designation.

The CMBA is the only professional certification designed to measure a student’s grasp of common curriculum required of all accredited MBA programs. Developed by ICI in 2002, the CMBA aims to enhance the marketability of MBA graduates and provide prospective employers with another way to evaluate candidates.

Cross works as a regional operations supervisor with Hudson Hotels. A Graham, N.C., resident, his territory includes Hudson properties in North Carolina and Virginia.

White is a senior consultant with Keane, Inc., in Durham. He is currently assigned to a contract with Lucent Technologies in the Research Triangle Park.
