Powell delivers two-day optimization class at GM

David Powell of the computing sciences department delivered a 2-day course titled “Advanced Optimization: Theory and Application,” at General Motors Knowledge Center in Warren, Mich., on June 19-20. The class was delivered to 14 GM engineers involved in the design of the next generation of General Motors cars and trucks. The course focused on the use of nonlinear constrained optimization techniques to solve both continuous and mixed integer design problems.
