Elon scored among the top ten percent of the nation’s master’s-level colleges and universities on every benchmark of excellence measured in the NSSE study.
The survey, the most comprehensive assessment of effective practices in higher education, includes data from 185,000 students at 649 schools. Students were asked detailed questions about the level of academic challenge at their school, opportunities for hands-on and collaborative learning, their interactions with faculty members, enriching programs such as study abroad, and the kind of supportive environment their school provides.
More than 95 percent of Elon respondents rated their college experience as excellent or good, nearly nine percent higher than the national average. Below are selected Elon survey results compared with national data:

The 2003 NSSE report, which is sponsored by The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and The Pew Forum on Undergraduate Learning, was released Nov. 10. The study provides information to students and parents in the college search process and gives campuses insight into effective teaching and student learning.
