The special treat was the result of their participation in Pay It Forward, an initiative developed by four Elon University students in professor Shawn Tucker’s Global Experience class.

As part of their “Out of the Bubble” group project, freshmen Sara Rhymer, Damon Ogburn, James Brewer and Gavin Sands encouraged the students at Elon Elementary to do nice things for others whenever others have been kind to them.

A total of 1,479 deeds were recorded by the students, with Mrs. Flowers’ class turning in the most by a class with 201.

The “Out of the Bubble” project required Elon students in Tucker’s course to work together in teams to take on an important issue or topic, and make an impact in the external community.
