The James H. McEwen, Jr. Visual Art Series will present “The Face of Appalachia: Portraits from the Mountain Farm,” an exhibition of photographs by Tim Barnwell, Feb. 23-March 18 in the Isabella Cannon Room, located in the Center for the Arts on the Elon University campus. An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 23 in the Isabella Cannon Room.
Barnwell’s photographs portray life in southern Appalachia in a sensitive and humane manner. His images exhibit the kinship between rural people and their land, a relationship that has created a rich and independent culture. The opening reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.
